2015 Barcelona

I organised an International Mystery Tour while I was President of the Students' Union in College for 50 students. I had never done it before so I learned a lot and it definitely tested my organisational skills!

We stayed in Urbany Hostels in Barcelona and for the trip €180 got students their accommodation, flights, return bus from airport to accommodation, one activity over there, pizza, 2 drinks & free t-shirt!

Below is just a few things we did over the 3 days!

Sagrada Familia

I visited the Sagrada Familia which is a massive Cathedral designed by Gaudi. The building commenced in 1883 and has still yet to be finished! Fabulous design inside and outside the cathedral and I would recommend to get the elevator up to the top! You can see the whole building and Barcelona for miles!

Nou Camp
For the paid activity we all went to Barcelona FC Nou Camp Stadium. Our tickets included the history tour and a tour of the stadium which was great as we got to see the dressing rooms and each floor of the stadium!

This was a weird shaped building that was right beside our Hostel! Was great to use for a landmark to get us back home!

Montjuic

Another trip we made was to Montjuic in cable cars which everyone did! It was a novelt to get cable cars and the further we went to the top we got a fantastic view of the city and when we got off we had a beautiful scenery of the Harbour. The sun was shinning and there's a walkway around the mountain too so it was a lovely trip.

Nightlife

The hostel had links with the nightclubs in Barcelona so we usually got in for free to the Nightclubs! We went to Opium Nightclub which was decent and didn't close until 5am! Taxis are really cheap also so the nightlife is much less expensive than Dublin.

Las Ramblas

Anyone who visits Barcelona must go to the famous street Las Ramblas. It's filled with shops along both sides of the street and when we went there there was a food market. It's littered with touristy shops also but there are also incredible artists that draw your portrait! I went to a small coffee shop and just people watched in the sun!

  1. Ah Cliodhna, you can tell this trip was before your running days. You didn't visit the Olympic Stadium and the monument to the Marathon Runners :)
